Abraham Lincoln
Do the values of Abe Lincoln still apply today? America’s greatness was based on the wisdom, courage and sacrifices of previous generations. Perhaps we need to reapply some of the principles that worked so well in the past.
The values espoused by Abraham Lincoln are based on the common sense and self reliance of an era long gone. The fact that we do not hear our leaders speak these words today may be part of the reason why our Country now faces some of the greatest crises in our history. We should look to the past – the solutions are there.
Boetcker wrote this, not Lincoln.
The 10 points quote was not by Lincoln. It was by a right-wing preacher named William Boetcker. Here is an authentic Lincoln quoye if you are interested in what he thought about economics:
Here is a sobering quote by Abe Lincoln:
“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. . . . corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.”
— U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, Nov. 21, 1864
